Japanese reading practice

Learn Japanese by reading real Japanese texts.

taihaa helps Japanese learners turn articles, stories, and class material into saved vocabulary and review with context, with furigana when you want it.

Free, no card. Unlimited saved Japanese words and imports.

Close-up of the Japanese reader with furigana over the kanji. 食べました is selected, with the dictionary form 食べる and the translation “to eat” in the word panel.
Tap the word in the sentence, check the reading and English translation, and save it with that line.

Why Japanese works well in taihaa

Turn Japanese reading into vocabulary you revisit.

Read Japanese with furigana

Turn on furigana over the kanji, the way pinyin and Jyutping work for Chinese. The word panel adds Hepburn romaji. Turn it off when you can read the kanji on their own.

Taps find the dictionary form

Japanese has no spaces, so taihaa finds the words for you. 食べました looks up 食べる and 高かった looks up 高い, whether the word is written in kanji, hiragana, or katakana.

Review with context later

Saved Japanese words move into review with their reading and sentence, so your vocabulary list stays connected to your reading.
